MP Computer Services, Inc. and the COVID-19First here are some guidelines to try to keep your equipment clean:
I have been thinking about this virus for some time now and I have made the decision to close MP Computer Services’ office until April 30th. At that time, I will reevaluate where we are in this Pandemic and if we can reopen, we will. I have employees that do not have insurance, Dan and I are in the at-risk category, and when we go onsite, Lord knows what we could walk into. This is not only to protect them, but to protect our customers too. The last thing I want to happen is to spread this virus. Now for what that means for you, I will be working remotely to resolve all the issues that arise. I will need you to first fill out a service ticket online and if it is an emergency then call my cell at 803/984-6327. If I must go on-site, we will discuss a procedure at that time. If I must pick up hardware to repair from one of my contract customers I will call you when I get outside of your office, you will bring it out of your building and leave it, I will be watching you do that and when you go back in I will pick the equipment up. I have planned with the USPS so I will still be able to get MPCSI’s mail and mail out invoices as needed. If you can process an invoice from MPCSI via e-mail, please let me know. The last thing I need to make sure of is that you have what you need to have your company’s employees to be able to work from home if you must close your company too. Anyone that needs to remote into work to get access to your server you will need a VPN connection for each person and that person will need a computer to RDP into. Most of my customers have that in place for a couple of employees in your company, if you decide you need more please let me know ASAP. For my customers that have paid and ordered equipment, we were first held up by the Intel processor shortage, now it is held up due to COVID-19 shutting China down. I will keep all of you updated on that as I get updates, a lot of my suppliers are working with a reduced workforce too. For customers that we are in the middle of installing your new server we might have to do it during the day instead of at night like we have done in the past. I do not mean to scare you or make you think that my company is going anywhere after being in business for 23 years, I do need to make sure we are not a carrier of this virus. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or e-mail me to discuss them.
